High impact workouts actually can help joint problems

27 October 2011 No Comment

So let’s debunk some of the old ways of thinking about high impact exercise like Insanity and P90X.  Some of the latest research shows that high impact cardio can actually relieve joint pain.  This was done with people with mild to moderate knee pain and after a trial of high impact exercise over a course of 6 weeks almost 90% reported a decrease in the severity of their pain.  Now this is not to say if you experience a sharp or stabbing pain or pain that lasts for greater then 24 hours you should continue with the exercise but if you can perform the exercise with little or no pain that is easily relieved with ice and elevation then high impact may be for you.  Over time you might just find that alot of those aches and pains go away.  This is coming from a guy (me) that has had both ACL’s repaired and has had knee pain for years but after my first 2 months of P90X my knees hardly bother me anymore.  Not only do you get in the best shape of your live but you also feel great too.
